Evergreen Legacies

A Whakawāhine Herstory.

Celebrate the legacy of Evergreen Coffee House, a sanctuary for Wellington’s rainbow community during the 80s and 90s. Special guests Jochanelle Pouwhare and Adam Dehar spill the tea on how the iconic coffee house shaped who they are today.

An urban marae established by Chrissy Wītoko, the Evergreen holds a special place in Wellington’s collective memory; our indigenous takataapui and whakawāhine community. Kōrero local rainbow heritage over a kapu tī with us. Everyone is welcome.

The Evergreen Coffeehouse sign is part of Wellington Museum’s collection and can be found on the second floor as part of the Ngā Heke exhibition.

Thank you to Heartland Bank for supporting this event.
